Cloud Watching

Cloud Watching

Cloud Watching

Puffy white Cumulus clouds drifting overhead,

Reminding me of cotton candy at the County Fair.

Passing by in the bluest of blue sky,

Making me hungry for more me time.

Spontaneously,

I lay supine upon my cushy patch of earth.

Squirming and wiggling,

Getting comfy on my grassy mattress.

Halting life to take in an impromptu Saturday afternoon matinee,

For free to beat it all.

Merging my soul into the heavens,

As I relax with my arms cusping my head.

Fingers barely touching,

I feel my hair wisping the palm of my hand.

The wind is blowing a bit too much,

I sigh and squiqqle just a tiny bit more.

My eyes wide open as I take deep breaths.

The sweetness in the air at this moment is at its finest.

The clouds orchestrating a perpetual motion only my God can create,

Slowly moving in the sky like a heated lava lamp.

Gliding by,

Creating a quiet dance with fluid flow.

The Autumn sky is painting art into the wild blue yonder,

Molding flying masterpieces.

Briefly cherished while another,

Then another,

Then others drift by.

Getting thicker and denser,

Clouds blanket the sun.

KA-BAM,

Without warning.

The refreshing Autumn breeze goes wild,

Wind yanking leaves off their branches.

Flying into the air with colors galore,

Frantically soaring all around.

Windchimes on my porch pick up their own beat,

Gusts of wind humming nature's melody in an eerily bewitching tune.

The white clouds are no more,

Vivid colors take over the sky.

Fantastical purples, reds, blues, oranges with shades of gray creeping in,

Rolling and churning.

Mixing all the colors into chaos as the gray striations turn to black as black can be,

Mammatus clouds darkening beauty is getting ready to splash vengeance upon the land.

In the distance thunder roars its rage,

The ground shakes from the clashing sound.

The peaceful sky bellows out fierce fury.

Screaming,

“Buckle your bootstraps cause I’m coming now!”

Thunderclaps are getting closer,

Only 6 seconds away the lightning illuminates the sky.

I pop up from where I lay,

Running to dash for cover.

The once serene white clouds have now turned irate,

Filling up,

Spilling over,

Bursting at the seams,

Pouring out all its glory,

Spewing rain drops down to earth.

Lightning sparkling the sky with a techno color laser light show,

Strobing the atmosphere with its iconic flare.

The storm has taken over,

Many hours pass with windows rattling.

Mother Nature’s fury is simmering down,

Quenching us with replenishing H2O.

At the end of such a glorious day,

Everything is cleansed.

All is content without thirst,

The smell is spectacularly refreshing as I open my bedroom window.

My heart is content as I peer upward outside one last time before sleep,

Peace is once restored with Cirrocumulus clouds drifting past a full moon lit night.

I take a deep refreshing breath as I crawl right into bed.

Being snug as a bug in a rug.
